JKCPJ organizes a Mental Health Awareness workshop at Government Boys Secondary School Lawaypora, Srinagar.
JK Centre for Peace and Justice Foundation organized a Mental Health workshop at
Government Boys Secondary School Lawaypora, Srinagar. JKCPJ Mental Health expert Syed
Manaal Andrabi spoke about the significance of mental well-being. She claims that “It is
essential to know that every mental health problem is not depression, as is often labeled by
society. And every person who is going through some mental health struggle is not abnormal
and can get better with the necessary professional help. This can be achieved after having a
kind and supportive environment where one is not judged for behaving differently from most
people in the surroundings, rather than being ostracized by the general public”.
The other issues addressed in the session were drug abuse, voyeurism, stalking and harassment
which is rising amongst the youth and needs medical attention and counseling. Moreover, the
students were enlightened with the need of career guidance and the importance of having
objective goals for a sustainable future. The staff and students thanked the team JKCPJ for
understanding and notifying the students’ needs.
The JK Centre for Peace and Justice Foundation (JKCPJ) has started a mental health awareness
project in Kashmir to raise awareness among the students with a commitment to eliminate the
stigma surrounding mental illness through education, training, and awareness. The program is
in line with JKCPJ’s organizational mandate and part of its state-wide initiative “Student’s
Connect 2022”.
